Ballet and Tap
This eight week course teaches students ages 5-8 the fundamentals of ballet and tap dancing. Each class will be divided into two parts; one half devoted to ballet technique and the other to tap.

New students will be exposed to the following in ballet:

The five main positions

French terminology
-
Barre exercises including port de bras, plies, tendus, frappes, and battements

Floor exercises and combinations
Returning students will be exposed to the following in ballet:

Review of the beginner positions and steps

French terminology
-
New steps including pirouettes, assembles, glissades, and echappés

Floor exercises incorporating the new material
-
Combinations using learned techniques
New students will be exposed to the following in tap:
-
Rhythm and timing
-
Steps including taps, flaps, stomps, flaps, and shuffles

Combinations set to contemporary music using the previously learned steps
Returning Students will be exposed to the following in tap:
-
Review of rhythm
-
Review of the beginner steps
-
New advanced steps such as: paddle and rolls, pull backs, draw backs, waltz clogs, time-steps, buffalos, and maxie fords
-
New combinations putting the steps to different rhythms
The course will conclude with a short demonstration on the eighth week.
Dress Code: Girls- leotard, dance slippers, and hair must be tied back. Boys- t-shirt, jazz pants and dance slippers.
